“Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD, saying, “I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously…”-Exodus 15:1
Sometimes, I just enjoy listening to others sing on Sunday. This is not to say that I, myself, do not participate in the corporate worship of the Lord in song, but sometimes I like to stop and listen as the rest of my brothers and sisters in Christ proclaim the wonders of our God. There is something encouraging and refreshing in taking a moment to hear, rather than to sing. It is to recognize the great chorus of the saints gathered in the local church. It is a moment to hear the unity of believers, publicly professing their shared faith in song. It is a foretaste of the Kingdom to come, in which the praise of the Lord Jesus Christ will not cease.
Our God has triumphed gloriously. He has triumphed gloriously! In Christ, the Law was fulfilled, atonement made, and sin, death and the devil defeated. Praise the Lord for His amazing and gracious work on our behalf. Sing to Him, for He alone is worthy. But take a moment every once in a while to take in the grace of God revealed in the voices of those around you.
